Derwent Bridge
Initially envisaged as a Somerset and Dorset layout to cater for group members’ interests, it morphed into a former Midland Railway line “Somewhere in Derbyshire” and gained station buildings modelled on Whatstandwell. A short quarry section was added bringing the length up to the 5m of the display area outside the clubroom at Strutt’s.
After several years as the group’s exhibition layout it was retired and became for many years a static exhibit, in 2024 a band of club members decided that despite looking a bit tired it was worth renovating to give the OO Gauge modellers somewhere to run their stock on club nights. The track is being re-laid and modified with simplified wiring, new fiddleyards will be added. The future of the quarry section is yet to be decided.
